The group was established at the Wirral Multicultural Organisation, 111 Conway Street. Birkenhead. CH41 4AF in 1991 by our Sifu Cathy Wu.
Sifu Cathy Wu continues to teach Tai Chi and to promote and exhibit her Calligraphy and Paintings. The group give thanks for her continual encouragement and support for the future progress of the group.
Historically Sifu Cathy Wu teachers were Julia Lowe founder of the Liverpool China Town Yang Style Group in 1988 and Master Dai Ren Li whose father, Bin Lo Li's master, was Yang Cheng Fu, the grandson of master Yang Luchan.
As a group we believe that it is essential to practice the traditional classics as given by the Yang family and to preserve their foundation in order to demonstrate how to put these principles and skills into practice in order to gain attainment of the application.
The Group continues as an informal collective of individuals who appreciate the practice and promotion of Tai Chi Chuan and consciously continue in Sifu Cathy Wu's absence in a spirit of mutual support, cooperation and respect for one another loyally following her teachings and guidance.
We are not commercial, nor seek profit, members volunteer their time and freely continue supportive collaboration with the Wirral Chinese Cultural Association (www.wirralcca.co.uk ) and with local workshops in schools, universities and local celebrations in the community.
Tai Chi Groups members are encouraged to demonstrate as a group and also solo to enhance their practical abilities, improve their confidence, their knowledge and demonstrate form applications.
